Dermalux LED treatment is a non-invasive, device-based skin therapy available at Beautyfull Cosmetic Medical Clinic in Brisbane. Using clinically designed light-emitting diode technology, Dermalux sessions are tailored to individual skin concerns following a thorough consultation and suitability assessment.
Dermalux is a clinically designed LED phototherapy device that applies specific wavelengths of light to the skin to support skin health and recovery. It is a non-invasive treatment performed in-clinic by experienced cosmetic nurses, and is used across a range of both cosmetic and medical skin concerns.
Unlike generic LED devices, the Dermalux system is manufactured in Britain and uses patented Tri-Wave MD technology, delivering Blue (415nm), Red (633nm), and Near Infrared (830nm) wavelengths. Each wavelength operates at a different tissue depth and targets different biological mechanisms — allowing clinicians to customise the wavelength combination to the specific skin concern being assessed.
Dermalux LED treatment is not suitable for everyone. A consultation is required prior to treatment to assess individual suitability, discuss your skin health history, and determine whether Dermalux forms part of your recommended treatment plan.
Individual results vary. This information is general in nature and does not constitute medical advice.
During a Dermalux session, controlled wavelengths of light are applied to the skin using the Dermalux panel. Each wavelength interacts with the skin at a different depth, targeting different cellular processes:
Sessions typically range from 20 to 45 minutes, during which patients rest comfortably under the Dermalux panel. Protective eyewear is provided throughout the session.
A series of sessions may be recommended depending on individual skin concerns and treatment goals. Dermalux may be used as a standalone treatment or as an adjunct to other in-clinic procedures. Individual responses vary, and a consultation will help determine the most appropriate approach for your skin.
Treatment plans are determined on an individual basis following professional assessment.
Dermalux LED treatment may be considered for a range of skin concerns, subject to consultation and suitability assessment.
Blue light therapy may assist in supporting clearer-looking skin as part of a broader treatment plan. It may also support the management of excess sebum and surface-level skin congestion.
Near Infrared light may support skin recovery following certain procedures and may assist in reducing the appearance of redness associated with reactive or sensitive skin conditions such as rosacea.
Red light and Near Infrared wavelengths may be considered to support overall skin appearance, including general skin quality, tone, and recovery maintenance.
Dermalux may be incorporated into post-procedure care following treatments such as skin needling, laser resurfacing, or chemical peels, where it may assist in supporting the skin's recovery process.
Near Infrared light may assist in supporting cellular repair and promoting general skin tone improvement. This may be of relevance for patients managing sun damage or uneven pigmentation.
Not all concerns can be addressed with LED therapy alone. Suitability is determined during your consultation.
Before your first Dermalux session, you will meet with one of our experienced cosmetic nurses for an initial consultation. This appointment allows us to review your skin health history, current medications, and aesthetic concerns.
Your nurse will assess your skin condition and discuss which Dermalux wavelengths may be appropriate for your individual concerns and goals.
Based on your assessment, your nurse will outline a proposed treatment plan — including whether Dermalux is recommended as a standalone treatment or in combination with other clinic services. A course of sessions may be suggested. Not all patients will be assessed as suitable.
If you proceed with treatment, you will be comfortably positioned under the Dermalux panel. Protective eyewear will be provided. Sessions typically last between 20 and 45 minutes, during which a gentle warmth from the therapeutic light may be experienced.
Following your session, your nurse will provide tailored aftercare guidance. It is important to follow all aftercare recommendations to support your skin in the period after treatment.
Consultation does not guarantee suitability for treatment. Individual responses vary.

Dermalux LED treatment has a well-documented safety profile when used appropriately, but as with any clinical skin treatment, individual responses can vary. Patients should be aware of the following:
Possible side effects include:
Important considerations:
This information is general in nature. Your treating nurse will discuss the risks and considerations relevant to your individual circumstances during your consultation.
For general information on light therapy, refer to Healthdirect Australia. Cosmetic medical treatments in Australia are governed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
The number of sessions recommended will depend on your individual skin concerns, skin condition, and treatment goals. Some patients may be advised to undertake a course of sessions to support cumulative improvements in skin quality, while others may find Dermalux suits their needs as an occasional standalone or add-on treatment. Your treating nurse will discuss a proposed plan during your consultation. Individual responses vary, and there is no fixed number of sessions that applies to all patients.
Dermalux Blue light therapy (415nm) may be incorporated into treatment plans for patients with acne-prone skin, where it is designed to target bacteria at the skin’s surface. It may also assist in supporting oil control and calming inflamed skin surrounding active blemishes. Whether Dermalux is appropriate as part of your acne management plan will be assessed during your consultation. Results are not guaranteed and individual responses vary.
Following a Dermalux session, patients are generally able to return to their normal daily activities. Some patients may experience temporary mild redness or warmth in the treated area, which typically resolves shortly after treatment. Your nurse will provide aftercare guidance specific to your treatment. It is important not to minimise individual variability — if you experience unexpected reactions, please contact the clinic.
As outlined in the Risks and Considerations section, possible side effects include temporary redness, mild warmth during treatment, and rare instances of skin sensitivity. Not all patients will experience side effects, but individual responses vary. Your nurse will discuss the relevant risks for your specific skin type and treatment plan during your consultation, and it is important to disclose all medications and relevant health information prior to your session.
Dermalux LED treatment may be used in conjunction with other in-clinic procedures, including skin needling. In post-procedure contexts, it may assist in supporting the skin’s recovery process. Whether combination treatment is appropriate for you will be determined during your consultation and will take into account your skin condition, treatment history, and overall treatment plan. Not all patients will be suitable for combination approaches.
The Dermalux device is designed for use across a range of skin types, and Near Infrared light in particular may assist in reducing redness and supporting skin recovery in patients with reactive or sensitive skin. However, suitability for any individual patient — including those with sensitive skin — is assessed during consultation. Patients with certain photosensitive conditions or those taking photosensitising medications may not be suitable candidates for treatment.
Your nurse will provide preparation guidance relevant to your individual treatment plan during your consultation. As a general guide, patients are advised to arrive with clean skin, free of heavy makeup or topical products where possible, and to disclose all current medications and skin treatments. Please inform your nurse of any changes to your health, medications, or skin condition before each session.
Dermalux LED therapy is generally designed for adult patients. Suitability for any individual, regardless of age, is assessed on a case-by-case basis during your consultation at Beautyfull Cosmetic Medical Clinic. Your nurse will review your full skin and health history before recommending any treatment.
